I’ve really been digging smoothies post-workout. I try to incorporate a variety of different ingredients to ensure I’m giving my body what it needs to restore energy, replenish and promote muscle growth & repair, as our bodies do require carbohydrates and protein for optimal recovery. By whipping together a quick smoothie I’m hitting the post-workout “window of opportunity”, because a recipe like this takes… 5 minutes to put together? Maybe less?
With a little experimenting, I concocted this fantastic blueberry vanilla smoothie. And as you’ll notice, majority (if not all) of smoothies I make include some greens – it’s just another great way to get your daily value of vegetables, and you don’t even taste it!
INGREDIENTS
- Handful baby kale
- 1 cup fresh organic blueberries
- 1 cup oat milk
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
- 1 tbsp hemp seed
- 2 tbsp vanilla protein powder
- Shake of cinnamon
- 4 ice cubes
DIRECTIONS
- Toss in all ingredients in a blender (I used a Nutri Ninja Blender) and blend.
Top with Manuka honey (great for an extra energy kick) & cacao nibs. Sip, sip away!
